Foraging & Wine Experiences

Albany Events has teamed up with Rural Courses to offer unique, rural day of food and wine exploration. Both companies are located in the heart of Kent, ‘The Garden of England‘, a county that is widely recognised for its vineyards and wineries, wonderful local pubs and its incredibly rich natural bounty found in hedgerows, woodlands and streams.

Rural Courses is run by Michael White from his Rural H-Q deep in the Kent countryside. Together with Albany Events, Michael and Victoria have created a series of day long experiences that offer a unique opportunity to learn about a wide range of authentic rural skills and explore English vineyards and wines, whilst enjoying the beautifully peaceful countryside.

With his specialist knowledge covering wild food foraging & hedgerow food, Michael is perfectly placed to teach the skills and techniques that he uses daily to sustain his self-sufficient lifestyle.

For all of our day experiences, we are able to arrange for you to be collected from and returned to Marden Train Station with direct trains to London Charing Cross taking 50 minutes. Should you prefer to drive, full details and directions will be provided.

Our day experiences start with coffee and cake at a local Kentish pub as you meet Michael and Victoria. You will then head off on a guided foraging walk around some breathtaking countryside and learn the secrets of nature’s wild larder. Guided by Michael, you will have a detailed introduction into foraging for wild food, learning to identify and pick a wide variety of edible plants and fungi. The walk will take about 2 hours and then you will return to the pub, with a hearty appetite, ready for a two-course lunch incorporating foraged foods. After lunch we will head off to Hush Heath Winery for a guided walk around their vineyards and winery followed by a tutored wine tasting in their tasting room or on their winery terrace. The day is an action packed day of exploring, learning, tasting and immersing yourself in our wonderful countryside.
